The Student Housing Centre (PRP) was formerly known as the Student Housing Unit. This unit was placed under the Office of Student Affairs (HEP) from 2005 to 2012.
Rebranding & Restructuring (2012)
On 20 May 2012, the University Board of Directors approved the rebranding of the HEP Housing Unit to the Student Housing and Transportation Centre (P2P).
This initiative aimed to:
Strengthen the management of residential colleges.
Provide better student transportation services.
This restructuring reinforced the management methods of residential colleges and improved the coordination of student placements.
Structural Enhancement (2019)
On 24 March 2019, through the Executive Committee Meeting No. 5/2019, the proposal for UTHM's new organizational structure was approved.
The Student Housing and Transportation Centre (P2P) was rebranded as the Student Housing Centre (PRP), effective 1 April 2019.
This restructuring was carried out to strengthen university governance based on four main areas:
Governance Institutions
Finance and Revenue Generation
Human Resources
Academic Management and Student Admissions
New Restructuring (2021 – 2022)
Through Management Circular No. 23/2021, the University Board of Directors (LPU) approved several new restructuring initiatives for the university.
Beginning in early 2022, all functions and governance of residential colleges as well as non-residential student offices were consolidated under a single responsibility center — the Student Housing Centre (PRP).
This restructuring aligns with UTHM’s four main functional clusters:
UTHM Edu-Train
UTHM Technopreneur
UTHM Prihatin
UTHM Governance
The Refinement of PRP’s Organizational Structure was approved during the Executive Committee Meeting No. 9/2022 on 15 June 2022.
Additional Note
This restructuring ensures a more efficient management of residential colleges and aligns with the university's objective of providing high-quality services to students.
